Advanced Opportunities Program has increased the number of dual credits for students. In 2015-16, students earned 1,185 credits and completed 345 AP Exams. The FAST FORWARD program, $4,125 allocation to each student, has increased opportunities for students in 2016-17 school year. Bonneville Joint School District 93 has partnered with five colleges and universities to make all of the dual credit opportunities available to our students. I have been able to work with Idaho State University – Early College Program to articulate a pathway for an Associate’s Degree – General Studies and next year we will have our first graduates who will earn their high school diploma and Associate’s Degree at the same time. We have also partnered with the College of Southern Idaho to articulate a pathway for students to be able to meet all of Idaho’s General Education Requirements, which will be the most common pathway for students to take while they are in high school. The five colleges and universities are College of Southern Idaho, Idaho State University, University of Idaho, College of Western Idaho, and Northwest Nazarene University. One of our best partners has been Eastern Idaho Technical College which has allowed the district to use some of their classroom space to provide a central location for several of the courses to be offered by teachers from the high schools teaching students from all of the district’s high schools. Finally, the district offers about 80 credits for the students to choose from whether it is in a traditional classroom environment or through Bonneville Online High School as an online opportunity.
